When I was a kid, I loved watching the movie Home Alone. There was something really satisfying about seeing a boy outsmart two grown-ups using just his own homemade "technology". Then I got into James Bond movies, where his high-tech gadgets always saved him from danger. The idea that technology could provide an edge, could offer protection and control in dangerous situations, has always been very inspiring to me.

When on a camping trip in the summer of 2020, I had the idea of making a portable perimeter alarm system for my campsite. And when I joined a shooting club in 2022, this project evolved into a situational awareness enhancement system instead. Being alone at the gun range often made me feel vulnerable, like a sitting duck. How could I be aware of my surroundings while being focused on my target practice?

That's how Heimdall 1 came to be, named after Heimdall, the watchful guardian from Norse mythology. Just like Heimdall has the ability to hear the grass grow, Heimdall 1 senses tiny vibrations in the ground and gives you the ability to hear footsteps and other movements up to 60 meters away. It's a high-tech device that helps you stay aware of what's around you so you can focus on your target practice without worrying.

I think the best way to feel confident and safe is to be prepared. When you know you have something watching your back, you can focus on what matters. That's what I'm trying to build at Pine Defence – products that give you peace of mind, wherever you are.
